Family Date

What an unbelievably wonderful evening. We had plans to have some friends over for dinner, but they got stuck at work until late (we didn't mind, it happens to us too). We decided to go out to Buca (we knew early on our friends might have to cancel) for dinner. When we got there we realized that it was dinner time on a Saturday night and the line appeared to be out the door. Instead of waiting another 45 minutes to eat we decided to drive over to our favorite Italian restaurant Via Roma. If you've never been it's definitely someplace you should plan on having dinner! Small Mom & Pop feel, personal friendly atmosphere, great service, and of course- divine Italian! We've never had a bad (or even mediocre) dish!

We haven't been there in years (not exaggerating) and I had almost forgotten how delicious their food is. We've never actually tried their pizza before tonight, but Cliff and I were in the mood to split the margherita and we got Evelyn some noodles and sauce (she was really tired and we told her we were having noodles for dinner when we planned on going to Buca - informing a really grumpy child that she's not having the dinner you promised her for hours was not something we were willing to do.).

Dinner was fantastic! Cliff and I were amazed at how delicious the kids meal sauce was and kept stealing it to dip our pizza or bread into. Evelyn thought it was so much fun getting to eat her noodles with her fingers and dip them delicately in her sauce (I ordered the sauce on the side because I didn't want it all over her clothes).

I was in the mood for dessert so Cliff suggested that we head on over to Mia Bella for our favorite Gelato. Via Roma sells gelato as well and I'm sure it's as delicious as Mia Bella however, we discovered Mia Bella first (after gross grocery store gelato) so we're a bit partial.

We headed across town into the busy parking lot, waited in line, and then took our Gelato over to watch the fountains (with everyone else). Evelyn was so happy watching the "waterfall!" that she almost completely forgot that Cliff and I had gelato in our cups. Almost. She was so happy watching the show and talking to her baby jaguar about what she saw that I couldn't help but smile the whole time.

She made a very wise decision when she realized that baby jaguar doesn't want to get wet or swim in the water. Good call baby, good call.

The evening was totally unplanned but so magical. Normally the crazy crowds in Roseville would of annoyed me to no end but seeing how happy Evelyn was I didn't seem to care about all the people. I didn't even notice them anymore.

All that mattered was that I was on a perfect date with my little family.
