365 Day 336

It may be outdated with cards like diskette, Watergate  and blockbuster, but it was still a lot of fun to play with everyone.

And, I won't be soon forgetting the failed Taboo card or Oral Messages.

365 Day 91

It's been crazy weather today. Rain, sun, rain, sun. We went to a birthday party in Rocklin and it was pouring down rain. When we left we had sunny skies over our had and this beautiful full rainbow in the distance. Then, on the drive home for game night the clouds went back to dumping buckets of water on us. Crazy weather, awesome day.

Quelf

Holidays are over and we finally got together for a family game night, complete with a new game: Quelf. What a random, crazy game. It was ridiculously silly but I have to admit I had a ton of fun.

Simple idea- roll the dice to move, draw a card and follow directions. I assumed this game would require high amounts of alcohol to finish, and although I consumed more than I normally do, it is still very fun 100% sober. Following the directions really is the most difficult part since they contain things like wear a helmet for the remainder of the game and suck your thumb before saying a simple phase. There is no rhyme or reason, just craziness.
The game actually took a pretty good amount of time with our gang so when the chitlens got tired they all cuddled together for a movie. We were all going strong up until the screen got busted out of a window. That wasn't part of the game, but it did seem to encourage the ending of the evening.
I'd have to say it was an awesome way to start off the new year of game nights. We all had more fun that we expected and because of my camera obsessive ways, we even get to go home with a consolation prize: a video.

*if you don't know us the video is just weird. For family that knows these personalities (and can see past my newbie editing) this video is hilarious!

Geeking New Year

I'm not a holiday person. For the last few New Year Eve's I've managed to fall asleep early in the night then wake up just before/after the ball dropped. Not much of a big deal for us.

This year we were invited to a party at our neighbors house. I'm sure it was a blast of a party, but again Holiday Parties are usually on our avoidance list.

We were invited to hang out and do nothing with our best friends as well. Our plan was to hang out and do nothing on our own, so this had a likely chance of being the perfect fit for us.

We were also invited to a classy dinner party with my brother, complete with prime rib. I have to admit, I was Jones-ing to go to this party and partake in that meal, but Cliff was already occupied with some of his friends when we got the invite.

A few weeks ago, Cliff was invited to 'game' with his buddies and he's been pretty set on sticking to that idea. This morning I woke up feeling terrible so I slept off my cold while while Cliff went to the gaming event solo. He convinced  me to join him in the evening , it was just down the street and dinner with my brother wasn't on his agenda. We brought in the new year geeking out with his friends (great people) playing D&D 3.5. Very geeky, but for us it worked.
