This morning we all woke up together and made mini french toast for breakfast.
This blog is my excuse to carry my camera around with me and take pictures like a tourist in my home town. This is also my way of staying positive and remembering the good things when I'm feeling buried under the mountain of straw. And finally, this is also where I may go from time to time to vent.

365 Day 357
We're making a lot of changes to our Christmas traditions. Making new ones, keeping old ones, changing expectations. Today is possibly my favorite one that we always plan and usually don't get to: Baking day!
Cliff made Pumpkin Rolls with Gator, Chocolate Chip Cookies with Bear, and Butterballs with Bug.
Best. Daddy. Ever!

365 Day 353
Sunday Bug and I made banana bread for breakfast. I let her pour in all the ingredients and it was so funny that when I pulled out my camera she turned and smiled at me just as I took the picture. She totally just photo bombed her own photo. This isn't even the best photo from that morning but it was too funny to not want to remember for a long time to come.

365 Day 293
After tasting the most amazing cinnamon bread at our friends house (and my own failure at repeating it) I found a super easy recipe online. Yum!

365 Day 247
While killing time in the bookstore at the Texas airport I couldn't resist taking a picture of this recipe. Something tells me if I call chicken yardbird I'd enjoy it more. Also, anything smothered is usually delicious. Texas, I still love you.

365 Day 132
Sadly, I'm a chicken in the kitchen. Either I cook what I'm in the mood for which often is delicious to me (just that once) and stomach churning to others or I stick to only tried and true recipes. Obviously, I don't have that many tried and true but I do have two sources that have never let me astray: Alton Brown (Food God) and Cook's Illustrated. If it's not in these books it's not worth eating. Today I finally conquered one of my fears: baking eggs. I made a delicious Frittata. Next time I'll try to brave my way through a quiche!

365 Day 97
While baking, my little munchkin decided she wanted to help me knead the dough for Portuguese Sweet Bread

365 Day 93
I spent the day with my nose buried in a book (*cough* Hunger Games) and only put it down to attempt some Sweet Bread. Time to go back to my book now.

365 Day 53
Making my favorite Colcannon soup. I still have several potatoes and a whole head of cabbage I need to add to the pot. I think I need to invest in a bigger stockpot.
