Babies Don't Keep

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
    Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
    Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
    Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Our family is complete and I'm starting to find a little more rhythm in our habits. I've also found some things I want to change.

Last year I focused on wanting to be a better housekeeper. That's still a goal, but I don't stress over it as much. If you want to visit me and you don't like the dust or clutter, don't come back.

I want to have at least one 'Yes, mam' day each week. I don't tell my kids it's a yes day, but I say 'no' enough I need to be able to learn how say yes more. More playdough days, more painting, more 'treats'.....

Working on our health, we all drink a glass of  water before meals. It also helps with getting more water in the kids' little bodies.

On days I have a dessert, I want to remember to serve them with the meals and no limits on how much they have to eat first. Eat all your dinner, eat just a bite of dinner, doesn't matter.

No yelling and hopefully no cursing. This is one I know I'll have to work on a LOT. My kids know I'm always appreciate when they can help me be a better person by reminding me when I'm making bad choices.

My biggest change I  hope to make is doing resets. We do resets in our rooms when we're in bad moods (yes, even me) but I hope to learn to be able to start new everyday and not stay mad about what happened yesterday (or 2 hours ago).
